A Year-Round Playground
The Poudre Canyon and Cameron Pass are an outdoor enthusiast's paradise year round. However, precautions must be taken in each season. To learn more about preparing to spend time in this area in all seasons, check out the "how to prepare and what to bring" section on the main page for Colorado Gold.
In winter, people snowshoe, backcountry ski, and stay in yurts on the pass.
In spring, there is still an abundance of snow in the high country, but animals will begin emerging and waters run high as the snow begins to melt (late spring/early summer).
In summer, folks love to raft the Poudre Canyon and wildflowers are in abundance.
In fall, a nice drive up the canyon and up to Cameron Pass provides views of the changing colors of the seasons at varying levels of altitude.
